New trees on Roman Road in trouble!

11 July, 2022 | Local action

I’ve been working with the Trees team in Tower Hamlets council to make sure the new trees along Roman Road get the best start in life.

The trees were planted in April towards the end of the planting season and during a period of hot weather. Following a tip off from a fellow resident, I asked the team to give the trees extra water to help them cope.

Then, there were further set-backs when three of the new trees were vandalised in quick succession. We unfortunately lost two trees but the third survived. Thanks to the quick response of the team in the council, these set-backs were dealt with promptly.

The first of the trees to be lost has been replaced with a new birch. The second will be replaced in the new planting season starting in October.
