In May, I was honoured to attend the first AGM of the Malmesbury Tenants and Residents Association (TRA) for several years. The TRA has been inactive for a few years, but new energy has come into it recently and residents elected a new chair and committee at the meeting.

The committee have already been active, pushing for repairs of the ball pit and community garden area and for traffic calming along Alfred Street. I also attended a walkabout with the residents earlier in the year, where lots of issues were raised with officers.

Last week, I attended another walkabout with officers and checked on all the things that were reported by residents – lots of things had been sorted out or were in progress. Like this door which was leaking when it rained and had been kept locked. For fire safety, it has to stay open and that’s now been sorted by the caretakers. The door frame has also been rebuilt and it’s no longer causing rain water leaks in the corridor behind it.

This door is now left open for fire safety and the frame is fixed so doesn’t leak rain water into the corridor behind.

The cover photo above shows a bin area which was previously very messy. The Council’s waste team have collected the broken bins and the caretakers are now able to keep this area looking really good – thanks all!
